I think nowadays if an employer needs proof of a degree (like if you need to have a certain degree to work in higher education), they’re not going to ask for your diploma, they’re going to ask that you pay the school to send the employer your transcript, that’s far more verifiable since it has to go through authorized channels (and thus are unlikely to be photoshopped). Diplomas are more for displaying on the wall to show off to anyone who visits your office (assuming that visitors are even going to bother noticing that sort of thing in the first place)

Your GPA is not on your diploma. It’s on your transcripts. Unless you have a distinction like me. I graduated summa cum laude, that’s on my diploma. Jobs don’t ask for that. They ask for your transcripts. At least they do when you get your first job as a lawyer.

Was making a lateral move to a new job. They asked for both my HS and college diplomas. I argued that I couldn't do college w/o high school. They said it was still required to even apply. Had to contact my HS for a copy since that was way too long ago and lost in a move.

I’m about half a year into my first job out of college. I had to do an extra semester because a teacher failed me on my graduating semester. The teacher was know to have students go to her class 2 or 3 times maybe even more, just to pass it she was the only teacher that taught that class too. I visited her office so much and tried my best and I didn’t get a passing grade. I walked not knowing if I actually was getting my degree. You know what I did when I learned I didn’t pass? First I cried a lot, then I got to researching other colleges who did the course I needed, no staff at my college helped me. I emailed and called about 20 universities to see if they had the class and eventually I found one. I took the class and passed, the teacher for that class was amazing. After I graduated and was out job searching, I searched for a whole year before I got the job.

I interned at the daily show too, in spring of 2007. But I wasn’t juggling water jugs or transcribing C-SPAN into the night, I was bringing coffee and lunch to David Javerbaum😂😂 at the time I thought I was being groomed to be a writer, that my packet of scripts I sent in impressed them. No, they just wanted a coffee boy😂😂 and I left shortly after anyway because my brother died that April, so who knows what could have happened. I did attend one writers meeting though beginning to end.

But I felt the same way as you thinking that transcribing 2 bins a night would make them suddenly notice. I was arguably a lot closer to the jackpot than you were (at least I saw them during the day😂) and I would genuinely stay up the night before memorizing coffee orders, what everyone liked, what lunch they would likely want on a Tuesday, because I thought maybe this way, they would see i was a good writer😂😂😂 what baloney. I should have asked straight up. Well it’s gone now, but I wonder if in another world maybe it worked out

I’m a college registrar. I can confirm 100%. Even less important is whether or not you make Dean’s List every semester. We had a student call our office last week, asking us to manually recalculate what their term GPA would be if they finished their Incomplete with a specific grade.

I do think Brennan picked possibly the worst career path for a somewhat chill college life. Writing and performance arts in general are hell in college since you are having to achieve this thing in an industry where experience is all they care about.
